About the project

Vision and objectives

This cross-border cooperation project sets out to promote the Pyrenees across its three countries — France, Spain and Andorra — as a unique, transversal destination. We are convinced that the Pyrenean tourism offer can only grow richer and more compelling by pooling the natural, cultural and gastronomic resources of all three nations.

The project therefore aims to:

  • Strengthen the overall appeal of the Pyrenees;
  • Sharpen our international competitiveness;
  • Create a rich and diverse year-round tourism offer.

This approach contributes directly to more sustainable tourism development across the Pyrenees, whilst generating positive economic and social benefits for the territories involved. The EnjoyPyr project stimulates local economic activity and helps strengthen the attractiveness of communities throughout the mountain range.

How does it work in practice?

To meet these objectives, EnjoyPyr centres on the creation and promotion of transversal, cross-border routes spanning the entire Pyrenean chain. Four great east–west crossings have been devised, covering the full length of the Pyrenees on both sides of the border, from the Mediterranean to the Bay of Biscay.

Eight cross-border north–south getaways round out the offer. Shorter in duration — between 5 and 7 days — they do not traverse the entire chain but feature several cross-border crossing points.

The role of local tourism agencies

These routes were designed by seven local agencies: three based in the Catalan Pyrenees, one in the Ariège Pyrenees, one in the Pyrénées-Orientales, and two in Navarre. This choice is crucial: we firmly believe that only local agencies, with their intimate knowledge of the territory, can craft routes of genuine quality.

The project’s institutional partners supported these agencies throughout the creation process and now bear responsibility for promoting the routes internationally.

The project also rests on strong inter-agency collaboration. A number of face-to-face working sessions were held, and the agencies remained in continuous dialogue throughout to ensure the best possible visitor experience in every territory and to create connections between the routes.

The EnjoyPyr project brings together partners from all three countries:
